It is constructed of highly absorbent 100% cotton heavyweight terry toweling and waterproof 420 denier packcloth (the same kind used for backpacks). These are great for absorbing water and wet, muddy paws and the water won't soak through to the surface below. It makes a great cover for expensive pet beds, car seats, etc. Fold the blanket in half, roll it up and wrap the elastic band for a ready to travel bed as well.
